Dear Friend,
The Senate is poised to vote on a bill that would end the internet as we
know it.
If it passes, the “Protect IP Act” (and its companion bill in the House,
“SOPA”) could put people in jail for uploading a video to YouTube and
would severely limit our right to free speech.
This bill has been rushed through Congress because big corporate interests
like Comcast, Pfizer, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have spent millions
of dollars lobbying for this censoring legislation.
I told my senators to protect our free and open internet and oppose the
Protect IP Act. You should do the same. You can sign the petition at the
link below.

Please urge your senator to make all decisions with integrity, equality and humanity in the
forefront of their mind, considering the impact of all their decisions, on the next 7 generations.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr at the March on Washington.
“Gandhi” he says, “was probably the first person in history to lift the love ethic of Jesus above mere interaction between individuals to a powerful and effective social force…”
In Gandhi’s teaching he found the answer to a question that had long troubled him: How does one set about carrying out a social reform?
“I found ” he tells us, “in the nonviolent resistance philosophy of Gandhi… the only morally and practically sound method open to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom.”

Thank you Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi and all the Peaceful Vision Warriors throughout time.

For a previous post, I looked and looked through my pictures to find a photo of my Random Act pallet. The one I use for the outdoor, satin or semi-gloss paint, mixing the primaries and white. I thought for sure I had taken one. I saw the pallet clearly in my mind. Yet I had not taken a picture, not that I could find. Others had taken pictures of the pallet, but not me. I have taken it for granted. I know it is beautiful, yet somehow seeing it has been so common place, as to be overlooked.
I think, “Look for the beauty in the every day.”
Further, as I drive around Los Angeles, seeing art in unexpected places and think, “Find beauty where you least expect it.”
Pretty soon I think, “I see beauty everywhere.”
And it all FEELS good.
Then I see and feel more beauty.

Andrea LaHue aka Random Act In West Virginia. Photo By Emily O. Garnett
Yellow is the color that binds everything in my Random Act paintings. It’s the color in which I sketch out the giant flower. I then mix my red and blue to make a dark purple, and re-sketch, creating highs and lows. Once this is done, I take a breath, the flower is there. I originally did this, so that I would have something, as quickly as possible… in the case I was chased off by someone…

She's not having a flower on this building! West Virginia
Above was in West Virginia. The bank attendant was not having me paint there….
Once these two outlines are up, I go in with a little red and various mixes of blue and yellow to make greens. Concentrating on getting the stem and leaves… again, thinking about how to get it up as fast as possible with the most impact, in the least amount of time. Then I concentrate on filling in the petals, I’m almost there.

Melrose Lily by Andrea LaHue aka Random Act

Chris Burden at Norton Simon for the Proof show.
The brilliance and humor of this piece by Chris Burden struck me as I wondered through one of my favorite museums, the Norton Simon in Pasadena. This piece is part of a very informative show called “Proof: The Rise of Printmaking in Southern California” and is part of the Pacific Standard Time Exhibitions.

A little slice of my inspiration board.
Just a little slice of my inspiration board. The Quote : Go for QUALITY OF DEVOTION TO EXISTENCE as expressed through CREATIVE ACTIVITY AND SERVICE. Comes from a Taurus something or other I read by Eric Frances of Planet Waves a few years ago. The LOVE sign painting is by Mark Hobley, I tore it out of a local art magazine a few years ago. We Never Die is from the Cyrcle. show this past summer. Free Humanity who’s work is all over Los Angeles… I love the power of the image and the words “Free Humanity”. I first saw these pasted up on boxes in Hollywood a few years ago. The Sparkled Spider is from my sparkle everything period a few years back, and the Quote at the bottom is by Marianna Williamson, but remembered often from Nelson Mandela’s speech.
